Quality Engineer, Swansea, 4 on 4 off, £60k

Summary:

Reporting to the site quality manager, the role will be responsible and accountable for daily monitoring of process quality performance on the specific site.

 

Essential functions:

  • Daily activities to confirm that Quality records, manufacturing documentation and control plan data are being completed and maintained in accordance with requirements.
  • Responsible for daily activities that support product release at stage including daily reporting and communication.
  • Control the Quality of all product types through all stages at the specific site.
  • Communicate Quality alerts and support Quality Stand downs.
  • To investigate and action non-standards including sub-contractors.
  • Facilitate all necessary MRB activities to disposition material.
  • Support root cause analysis for major non-standard events and instigate actions as part of the regular area non-standards meetings
  • Regularly confirm process control and machine capabilities using SOP’s, control plans and diagnostics to confirm daily process adherence including supporting any relevant updates to Standard operating practices.
  • Aid in the training and competence assessment process of All Inspection and Special processes activities as required.
  • Support site Zero Defects Process and yield activities
  • To maintain and improve the current calibration control system for all measuring equipment including mentoring and training of operators
  • Support final product release/certification in close out of Non-standard issues and actions.

 

KNOWLEDGE/QUALIFICATION/EDUCATION:

  • HND or equivalent in materials science/engineering
  • Ideally, Titanium Metallurgy experience
  • Knowledge of Microsoft software packages-word, excel, power point
  • Problem solving skills
  • Route cause analysis / 8D techniques
  • Process FMEA/Control Plan experience.
  • Nadcap Special Process knowledge/experience and advantage

 

EXPERIENCE:

  • Demonstrated manufacturing and technical experience within a metals manufacturing industry.
  • Experience in Aerospace and/or titanium manufacturing would be a distinct advantage
